Halloween Horrors! Update

The Halloween Horror Book Review Project has a new name "Halloween Horrors!" . Dark Scribe Magazine's review of Covenant by John Everson as part of Halloween Horrors! while Horrorworld reviews Masks by Ray Bradbury . In addition, Horror-Web reviews Meat by Joseph D'Lacey as part of the Halloween Horrors! project.

We also have additional reviews and a book list up at our

In addition, The Angry Princess reviews Sudden Victims by Dennis Latham and Bob Freeman reviews The White Hands and Other Weird Tales by Mark Samuels and Strange Tales edited by Rosalie Parker in the adult Horror Anthologies section. The Monster Librarian reviews Tales From The Crypt #1: Ghouls Gone Wild by Don McGregor and Mark Bilgrey in the young adult graphic novel section and Jesus Hates Zombies created by Stephen Lindsey and Zombies Calling! by Faith Erin Hicks in the adult Graphic Novel section. Kirsten Kowalewski adds a review of They’re Coming For You: Scary Stories that Scream to be Read by O Penn-Coughin in the Scary Books for Kids section.

10/1/08 Halloween Horror Book Review Project Launch

Tonight we launch the 2008 Halloween Horror Book Review Project. This year MonsterLibrarian.com, Horrorworld, Horror-Web, Hellnotes, FearZone, Horror Drive-In, and Dark Scribe Magazine will be offering up reviews of horror titles, many set on or around Halloween. Reviews will be posted throughout the month, so please check back here for the latest Halloween fun. The Monster Librarian reviewed Ghost Walk by Brian Keene in the adult Supernatural page and Bound for Evil edited by Tom English in the adult horror anthologies page. Horror Drive-in has contributed a review of Miranda by John Little in the adult Something Different section. Hellnotes already has posted their review of Night Country by Stewart O"Nan. We will have additional reviews and goodies all through October.

We have also started the final update of the 2008 Coming Horror Fiction Releases page for October, November, and December and will have part 2 of the update next week

For teens and to help with YALSA's Books with Bite program we have put together the latest list of young adult vampire fiction.


For the 12 and under readers we have started our own Halloween Book List for Kids page

Halloween update! New reviews

Happy Halloween from all of us at MonsterLibrarian.com. I hope everyone has a happy, safe, and scary Halloween. In this update, new reviewer William Simmons reviews Stephen King's
Salem's Lot in the adult vampire section and The Shining in the adult supernatural section. Michele Lee reviews Rob Rogers' upcoming dark superhero thriller Devil’s Cape. The Monster Librarian reviews Elizabeth Massie's Brazen Bull in the human horror section,
Michael McBride's Chronicles of the Apocalypse: Species in the adult zombie section, and Steven Niles' 28 Days Later: The Aftermath in the adult graphic novel section. The Coming Horror Fiction Releases has been updated for November and December. MonsterLibrarian.com was mentioned in the article "Boo! Focus on Scary Stories" by John Peters in the October issue of School Library Journal as a professional resource for librarians in helping with horror readers' advisory for kids and young adults!
