TORONTO, Ontario (August 5, 2009) – ChiZine Publications announces its latest book, Chasing the Dragon by Nicholas Kaufmann, is now available for pre-order in limited edition hardcover.

Fantasy writer Lavie Tidhar is a global sort of guy. An
Israeli with South African roots, who has lived in a wild
variety of places as different as the UK and Vanuata in the
Pacific. Right now he is up-jungle, as they say, doing
volunteer work in Laos, in South-East Asia. As well as a
clutch of highly regarded short stories and novellas, his
website World SF has attracted much attention for
focussing specifically on the science fiction and fantasy
produced in non-English speaking countries.
Despite this, his debut series for Angry Robot focuses on one of the most quintessentially British
genres, namely steampunk, the exciting mix of Victorian culture and anachronistically advanced
technology. In THE BOOKMAN, a shadowy terrorist of that name brings London society practically to a standstill by placing bombs inside books. After several atrocities against London's theatres, he outdoes himself with an audacious attack on the blessing of the launch of the first expedition to Mars. For young poet Orphan, whose girlfriend is killed in that blast, it is the start of an epic adventure that will bring him face-to-face not only with the master-criminal but his own lost past.
Like a steam-powered take on V for Vendetta, rich with satire and slashed through with wild
adventure, this is book one of a series that will run to at least three volumes. They were acquired by Angry Robot’s publishing director Marc Gascoigne from the Zeno Literary Agency, and will be published by the HarperCollins imprint starting in Spring 2010.
