In episode 4 of Ms. Marvel Kamala and her mom travel closer to the source of the mysterious bangle bringing out her powers by visiting family in Pakistan. After first setting the scene with some touristy and family activities, which are absolutely beautiful and fascinating bits of representation, handled with grace and levity, Kamal meets the mysterious Red Dagger.
After a fun little fight Kamala is taken in to the Red Dagger clan and meets their leader Waleed who adds more to her knowledge of the Clandestine hunting her as well as trying to assuage her feelings about being part djinn. “Djinn”, he dismisses, is just a term for an extraplanar being who interacted with that area of Earth. The true threat to what Kamala has been pulled into is that if the Clandestine manages to rip away the Noor veil in their quest to get home, they will destroy Kamala’s home world.
When the Clandestine show up, Kamala has to run to keep them from getting the bangle. With all the elements now in place, all that’s left is to watch them collide.
