The Man with the Magic Eye – Maka and Soul’s Diverging Soul Wavelength?
As punishment for trying to kill Medusa Eruka Frog is sent to Witch Prison to break out the Man with the Magic Eye, the man who stole the Witch Queen’s left eye. Medusa sends “Free” to challenge Maka and Soul, particularly to push Soul to see how he reacts to the black blood that’s inside him.
But Maka and Soul have been undergoing some of Professor Stein’s “special” lessons and are having a hard time getting their wavelengths to match. They’re both angry at each other, stubborn and determined to save the other from pain, not so much by protecting one another, but by superceeding each other and cutting the other out of fights altogether.
When Free, who is an immortal, magical werewolf, turns up to take them out both sets of students have major fighting issues. Black Star still can’t fight the drain of Tsubaki’s Enchanted Blade form (though the abilities are impressive) and Soul and Maka can’t put their stubbornness aside to work together against Free.
