Lost Highways: Dark Fictions From The Road<\/em> had a lot of fun stories– 20 to be exact– and a bonus of 5 works of art.\u00a0 The title got my attention from the start, and I was curious what tales of the road I would find.\u00a0 I was not disappointed.\u00a0 The majority of the stories had plotlines that kept me interested and challenged me.\u00a0 Many gave me twists that I did not expect.\u00a0 The tone throughout these works was creepy, with the occasional feeling of vindication or awe.\u00a0 The characters were believable for their situations.\u00a0 There was enough background to set each story up.\u00a0 Usually, I was thrown straight into the action and the details of the past popped up as needed.\u00a0 Fun stuff.\u00a0 The descriptions and pacing flowed well.\u00a0 The only complaint I can make is that there were a few grammar issues, mostly typos.\u00a0 My favorite stories were:\u00a0Mr. Hugsy<\/em> by Robert Ford; Jim’s Meats<\/em> by Kelli Owen; Not From Detroit<\/em> by Joe R. Lansdale; Room 4 At The Haymaker<\/em> by Josh Malerman; and\u00a0The Widow<\/em> by Rio Youers.\u00a0 I have not read any of these authors’ work previously, with the exception of I Can Taste the Blood<\/em> by Josh Malerman.\u00a0Recommended for adult readers.<\/p>\n
