Here&#8217;s a list for teens of shivery stories \u00a0that take place in the cold. \u00a0I&#8217;m sure that most teens see Laura Ingalls Wilder&#8217;s name and think &#8220;kiddie book&#8221;, but when I&#8217;ve asked adults what books scared them the most as children, <em>The Long Winter<\/em> always makes the list. And, having just read <em>Little House on the Prairie<\/em> to my kids, I have to say that&#8217;s not the only book in the series to have some absolutely terrifying moments. While Wilder&#8217;s books may still appeal to tweens and early teens, though, most of these are older YA titles. I&#8217;ve read all but two of them, and there is some excellent writing listed below.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><em>Revolver<\/em> by Marcus Sedgwick<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><em>Never Slow Dance With A Zombie<\/em> by E. van Lowe<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><em>Silent Night<\/em> by R.L. Stine<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><em>Wicked Lovely<\/em> by Melissa Marr<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><em>Ashen Winter<\/em> by Mike Mullin<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><em>Look For Me By Moonlight<\/em> by Mary Downing Hahn<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><em>The White Darkness<\/em> by Geraldine McCaughrean<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><em>The Long Winter<\/em> by Laura Ingalls Wilder<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I actually intended to make one long post, but the list for adult horror novels got so long that I thought these would get lost down at the bottom.
