Interestingly, and as a total coincidence, I just finished a novel that starred him as a main character: <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/1439168938\/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=monstlibra-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=1439168938\">The Astounding, the Amazing, and the Unknown<\/a>, <\/em>by Paul Malmont. Asimov is one of my favorite writers: roboticist Susan Calvin and investigator Elijah Baley are characters I&#8217;ve never tired of, and &#8220;Nightfall&#8221; is one of the most tremendous stories I have ever read. He was a genre-defying author as well- on my bookshelves somewhere I have \u00a0<a href=\"&lt;a href=\">Asimov&#8217;s Annotated Gilbert and Sullivan<\/a><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: none !important; margin: 0px !important;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.assoc-amazon.com\/e\/ir?t=monstlibra-20&amp;l=as2&amp;o=1&amp;a=0385239157\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" \/>.<\/p>\n<p>At any rate, Happy National Science Fiction Day!<\/p>\n<p>On another note, \u00a0fans of speculative fiction (which includes science fiction and horror, among other genres) now have a new online resource available, <a href=\"http:\/\/adastra.ku.edu\/\">Ad Astra<\/a>. Ad Astra is a volunteer organization under the Center for the Study of Science Fiction at the University of Kansas.<\/p>\n<p>Speculative fiction is a broad term, and the editors at Ad Astra are trying to be as inclusive as possible by defining speculative fiction in their<a href=\"http:\/\/adastra.ku.edu\/?p=29#more-29\"> blog<\/a> as<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8230; a way to refer to all kinds of fiction that involve elements of the fantastic, the unreal, and the highly unlikely&#8230; All ideas are welcome, all sub-genres have something valuable to say.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It sounds like it will be very cool!
