Finally, Kate Folan, who is Tom&#8217;s age, warns him that he is being turned into a werewolf and needs to escape.\u00a0 The Folans are a family of werewolves, and Kate&#8217;s mother, Marcie, has\u00a0 chosen Tom to be Kate&#8217;s mate.\u00a0 Tom and Kate flee the Folan household and are pursued by Kate&#8217;s mother, who has alerted other werewolves across the country to hunt Tom and Kate.\u00a0 Cole&#8217;s story has a good consistent pacing and the Tom and Kate characters work well together.\u00a0<i>The Wereling<\/i>\u00a0does have a more hard horror edge and has more violence than\u00a0<i>Wolf Pack<\/i>\u00a0or\u00a0<i>Lone Wolf<\/i>. There are two other books in the series\u00a0<i>; The Wereling: Prey<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0<i>The Wereling: Resurrection<\/i>. Recommended for a highschool horror collection and a potential recommendation for those who liked\u00a0<i>Blood and Chocolate\u00a0<\/i>by Annette Curtis Klause.
